Frequently Asked Questions - Our Services
What is proofreading?
Through our proofreading service, your designated expert editor will go through your work word for word, to correct and improve spelling, punctuation, grammar, typing errors, as well as logic and flow. They also fix awkward phrasing and improve the logic of your work. For example. for academics and students there are certain standards that all work must adhere to, and our experienced editors are very familiar with these standards and can ensure that your work satisfies all such requirements.
Why do I need to proofread my work?
Our Proofreading service is designed to correct and improve spelling, punctuation, grammar, typing errors, as well as logic and flow. This provides several benefits to our clients:
Who will be editing my work? And how do you choose the editor who works on my project?
Through our 10+ years, our network of editors has expanded to include highly experienced editors with extensive expertise in almost every major subject and field of work. After we receive your work, your designated editing manager will digest it and consider its needs as well as any additional requirements you may have, such as deadlines. Your editing manager will then select an editor from our network who will have expertise in your subject matter, and who will be able to adhere to your deadlines as much as possible.
Do you have subject experts?
Yes, our hand-picked wide network of expert editors is composed of professional editors from almost all major subject areas and fields. Our team of editors includes experts in Business, Technology, Literature, Academia, The Film Industry, Media and advertizing, Science, Mathematics, Philosophy, Law, Linguistics, among others.
What kind of work do you edit/ proofread?
Our services cover a very wide range of subject areas and sectors. Our regular client base includes students working on theses or essays, Academics working on papers or articles for academic journals, authors of both fiction and non-fiction words ready to publish their work, business people and corporations, Screenwriters and playwrights, Film producers preparing a pitching package for their film, individuals working on CVs or employment assignments, non-English speakers looking to translate their work from another language into English, and researchers looking for transcription services, among many others.
Have your clients worked with other similar service providers before?
Yes, many of our clients have specifically highlighted to us the difference between our service and other service providers they had worked with in the past. Our service is cheaper, faster, and at the very least of the same standard and quality as other services, that charge double the price and take twice as long to complete the work. The overwhelming majority of our clients come back to work with us again, and even refer many of their colleagues and friends to us.
What is your paraphrasing service, and how does it differ from proofreading?
Our paraphrasing service goes a step beyond proofreading. It includes all the services provided by our proofreading service, and gives you much more. Your designated editor will strengthen your sentences and will ensure that the flow and style of your written work is significantly enhanced throughout your document. Your designated editor will also be an expert in your specific subject and its field, and can therefore suit the overall tone of your work to your specific field of work.
What is your copy-editing service?
Our copy-editing service takes things a step further. It includes all the services provided in our paraphrasing service, but takes it much further. Our copy-editing services provides a re-write based on your original work, to communicate and express your original ideas in the best manner possible. Since the work will be done by experts in the field, they will understand what standard best-suit your field of work, and will apply their experience in re-writing your sentences while preserving the essence of your ideas and your work.
What does your expert-critique service include?
Our expert critique service takes things to another level. It goes beyond re-writing your work to express your ideas. You may have a raw idea that you have not written yet, but need someone to write it from scratch. In this case our editor will communicate your ideas for you. You might also have an idea that you still need to develop further. In this case, our expert editors can help critique your ideas, guiding you and aiding you in developing your ideas further, and then helping you express them and communicate them in the best possible way.
How qualified are your expert editors who provide the copy-editing and expert critique services?
Our selection criteria for our editors who provide the copy-editing and expert critique services are even more strict than the criteria we have for the rest of our editors. It is mandatory for editors offering these services to have at least two qualifications (one of which must be a masters degree or phd) from a top tier university, often Oxbridge or Ivy-league. It is also mandatory for editors providing these services to be established and published in their fields of expertise, with experience of over 20 years. We make sure to meet every single one of them either personally, or through skype video conferencing to know them better on a professional level.
How does the process work?
Our process is designed to be as simple and straightforward as possible, while also giving our clients the comfort of knowing that they are in touch with a designated editing manager who is available to take care of their needs 24/7. We also wanted to give our clients the security of ensuring that our work meets their expectations, so you will receive the work from us on a chapter-by-chapter basis. If you are satisfied with our editor's work you can engage us further to work on subsequent chapters. If you feel that our editor could have done a better job, within reason, or if you have any notes or comments on their work, your designated editor would be happy to re-review each chapter at no extra cost to incorporate your notes and/ or concerns.
Our process works as follows:

How do I send you my work?
The best way to send us your work is through email. This way you can liaise with your designated editing manager who will take care of all your needs and concerns 24/7. If we have any questions about your work, we will also contact you. Our service is unlike others, where you upload your document and then download it from their website. You will always be dealing with a real person who is fully dedicated to you and your work.
Can I submit my work in parts?
Yes, absolutely. We work on a chapter-by-chapter basis anyway, whereby our editor only moves on to the next chapter of your work after we receive your approval.
We also appreciate that, in some cases, your work might still be in progress and is yet to be completed, or you might wish for us to only work on a section of it. This is completely fine, just let us know and we will be sure to pass on the details to your designated editor.
Can I have the same editor as before if I submit my work in parts?
Yes. In the overwhelming majority of cases we will be able to provide you with the same editor. This is actually better for both the client and the editor as they will already be familiar with your work and its needs.
Can I exclude sections from the billable word count, if they don't require reviewing?
Yes, no problem. It's entirely up to you.
Can I request specific changes or requirements, such as style and format guidelines?
Most certainly. In fact, we and our editors encourage any input from you as it helps us understand more about your concerns and needs. If there is a particular paragraph or idea that you are particularly concerned about please let us know, and your designated editor will be sure to address your needs. Also, if there is a specific stylistic standard which your work must follow (such as a particular referencing style for work in the academic sector) please be sure to let us know and your editor will incorporate this into your work.
Can I choose between US English, British English, Canadian English, and Australian English?
Yes, of course. Just let us know which type of English standard you require. We work with editors from the US, UK, Canada, and Australia.
How will my work be returned?
You will receive from us a version of your document with all the changes that were made by your designated editor tracked and highlighted, in addition to comments or questions that your designated editor may have regarding your work.
When will my work be returned?
We pride ourselves in offering a much faster turn-around than 90% of similar service providers, while offering a much cheaper price, and the same standard of quality, if not a better one. Our minimum guaranteed turnaround is 20,000 words per day for our proofreading and paraphrasing services, and 10,000 words per day for our copy-editing and expert critique levels of service. This turnaround time starts from the day we email you confirmation that your designated editor has started editing your work. If your deadline is urgent please be sure to let us know and your designated editing manager will be sure to liaise with you to reasonably meet your time constraints.
How will I see the changes that your editor made to my document?
The document you receive from us will have all the changes made by your designated editor, highlighted and tracked, preferably in Microsoft Word format. You designated editor may also add comments to your work to communicate any suggestions or questions.
What if i'm unhappy with the work?
If you are unhappy with our editors' work, please contact us and we will be happy to find a reasonably suitable solution. We can offer a free re-review of your work either by the same editor, or another editor.
Unlike other similar service providers, we work on a chapter-by-chapter basis. Like this you can be 100% certain that you are satisfied with our editor's work before they move on to the next chapter.
I received some comments and suggestions from your editor about my work. How can I answer them?
Of course! That's what they are there for. If our editor has comments or questions for you to clarify the meaning of something you wrote, then please answer their questions and comments and they will be sure to incorporate everything into your work. For our Expert Critique service, there will be several rounds of comments and dialogue between you and your designated editor to ensure that the essence of your work and ideas is preserved and accentuated.
Will your editor review any subsequent changes that I make, or answer any follow-up questions?
Yes, if there is a reasonable number of amendments that you wanted to make to your edited document, or if you have any follow-up questions about your edited document then your designated editor would be happy to review your changes once more, and answer your follow-up questions at no extra charge. This is more common with our expert critique service, as many of the comments and suggestions about your work take place in the form of a dialogue to ensure that you are happy with the direction your work is going in.
