Frequently Asked Questions - Services - For Authors
What types of work do you edit and what type of works have you edited in the past?
We cover a variety of documents including fiction, non-fiction, novels, plays, media articles, and poetry. Over the years we and our editors have worked on a large variety of works, many of which have been published.
Who will be editing my work?
Your designated editor will either be a published author themselves or a professional publishing editor and in the same field as your submitted work, and will have at least 10 years of experience in editing similar works.
I have used a specific style or regional dialogue in my book. Will you editors know how to work this it?
Definitely. Our editors are accustomed to working with various regional dialects, styles, and creative approaches. None of your work will be edited by software of any kind, which is usually the biggest culprit in misinterpretation of specific regional dialects and creative styles. If you designated editor is not sure about something, they will be sure to ask about it in the comments section of the edited document we send back to you. And if there are specific things that you don't want them to change please let us know, and they will be sure to leave it as it is.
Can I choose between US English, British English, Canadian English, and Australian English?
Yes, of course. Just let us know which type of English standard you require. We work with editors from the US, UK, Canada, and Australia.
I'm concerned about copyright. Will anyone be able to take my ideas?
Yes, absolutely. We work on a section-by-section basis anyway, whereby our editor only moves on to the next section of your work after we receive your approval.
We also appreciate that, in some cases, your work might still be in progress and is yet to be completed, or you might wish for us to only work on a section of it. This is completely fine, just let us know and we will be sure to pass on the details to your designated editor.
My work is highly private and confidential. Can you guarantee that it stays confidential?
Absolutely not. Your work is your and yours alone. And you will remain the sole copyright holder. Neither we, not our editors lay any claim to your copyright, and all your ideas will be kept absolutely confidential as all our staff members and editors are signed to strict confidentiality agreements.
My document is very large. Can I submit it in parts?
Yes, absolutely. We work on a chapter-by-chapter basis anyway, whereby our editor only moves on to the next chapter of your work after we receive your approval.
We also appreciate that, in some cases, your work might still be in progress and is yet to be completed, or you might wish for us to only work on a section of it. This is completely fine, just let us know and we will be sure to pass on the details to your designated editor.
May I offer you/ my editor a percentage of my royalties instead of your standard fees?
Even if a manuscript has the potential to become a huge worldwide bestseller, it may take a while before the book is published on a mainstream basis. For this reason, we will settle for the fees we charge for the services we render. Aside from that, the work is yours and yours alone. You are the author, and its only right that you alone enjoy the profits of your work.
I love the work your editor did on my book? May I know their name to credit them in my book?
Thank so much for the gesture, but unfortunately we will have to decline. We want you to feel secure that the copyright is exclusively 100% yours and yours only. Neither we nor our editors require anything for your work except for the fees we charge for the services rendered.
May I quote what my editor has written about my work to promote it?
Sadly, this will not be possible. The comments made by your designated editor are solely for the purpose of enhancing your work and helping it become the best version of itself. We want all our clients to feel treated equally, so we cannot endorse any particular work over another, even if its quality is superb.
